Situation:
This article outlines the steps necessary to exclude your mail client's inbox from being scanned by Norton AntiVirus.

Solution:
Follow these steps to add your email inbox to Norton AntiVirus exclusions.

To exclude your email box from being scanned by Norton AntiVirus

1. Exit any email programs that are running.
2. Start Norton AntiVirus.
   If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program.
3. Click Options.
4. If you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.
5. In the left pane, click Auto-Protect > Exclusions.
6. In the right pane, click New and then enter the file type that applies to your configuration.
   See the table at the end of this procedure for the name of the file. For example if you have Eudora Mail, type *.TOC in the Item box.
7. Repeat step 6 for any other file type.
8. Click OK.
9. In the left pane, click Manual Scan > Exclusions.
10. In the right pane, click New and then enter the file type that applies to your configuration.
    See the table at the end of this procedure for the name of the file. For example if you have Eudora Mail, type *.TOC in the Item box.
11. Repeat step 6 for any other file type.
12. Click OK.
