Release Notes: BV-Admin Web Portal version 8.0

Question/Issue:
Welcome to bv-Admin® Web Portal®. bv-Admin is the industry leader in cross-directory management and migration. bv-Admin simplifies the administration of multiple enterprise directories by providing Role-based delegation and Approval-based workflow for administrative tasks. bv-Admin Web Portal provides access to bv-Admin Organization through a web-based application. This product provides trustee specific functionality for management of Windows 2000, Exchange 2000/2003, Windows Server™ 2003 and Active Directory® environment.

Solution:
System Requirements
bv-Admin Web Portal v8.00 has minimum system requirements for installation and use. Before installing the product, ensure that your system meets these minimum requirements:

Hardware Requirements

Pentium® IV 3 GHz
1 GB RAM
150 MB of free disk space
10 MB of free disk space on the server per trustee, minimum 50 MB

Software Requirements

Windows 2000 SP4 Server or later (only Server edition)
Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 (Standard or Enterprise edition)
Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8
At least one NTFS partition
IIS 5.0 or later
Internet Explorer v6.0 or later

Known Issues
We recommend that you review the following notes before using bv-Admin Web Portal:

The property sheet of a document is not displayed correctly if the user submits documents for printing from a Windows 2003 machine with the Print Setup as Landscape.
The computer may have to be restarted if the recent version of msxml3 is not installed, or if it has been loaded during installation.
User objects with a slash (/) in the name are not supported.
The Access Denied error appears if a custom role with minimum rights required to create a mailbox is assigned to a trustee, and the trustee has rights on the Exchange container. To avoid this, use the Mailbox Administrator role.
A trustee's work environment should be refreshed using Update Roles, if a Managed Collection over which a trustee has a role is renamed.
Global Settings may not be visible if the trustee is a member of local admin group via recursive and multi-level group membership.
Logging into Web Portal with the UPN of a trustee is not supported.
The user should have local administrative privileges on the Web Portal machine to be able to record events into the Event Log.
Search Filter Cannot be Recognized error is displayed when a ‘Long’ property is used in the ‘Where’ field with ‘Greater than’ or ‘Less than’ filter conditions.
Undefined Error message appears if the popup blocker is enabled and a user tries to launch Print Jobs for a printer through Web Portal on a Windows 2003 SP1 and XP SP2 machines.
Email is not sent to the receiver if a rule with Action Execution type set as ‘Synchronous’ is executed through Web Portal, and if the setting used while configuring the action in the Rule is "SMTP server name - %UseClientSettings%".
Undefined Error message appears if the user tries to launch the Advanced Find dialog to specify the 'For' and 'Where' clauses. The error occurs if Web Portal is launched from an XP SP2 or Windows 2003 SP1 machine.
The Web Portal Configuration Wizard does not add Service Account to Server Caller Verification trustee list in Password Self Service, if the logged in user has administrative rights through nested membership.
Certain features of bv-Admin Web Portal v8.00 or bv-Admin for Windows v8.00, or both bv-Admin Web Portal v8.00 and bv-Admin for Windows v8.00 may not work if BindView Password Self Service v8.00 is uninstalled from the machine on which either bv-Admin Web Portal v8.00 or bv-Admin for Windows v8.00, or both are installed.

This issue can be resolved by installing the HotFix HF_ForPSS8_00orEXCHMIG7_50_UnInstallation.exe on the machine where bv-Admin Web Portal and/or bv-Admin for Windows are installed.
The Web Portal Configuration Wizard does not add Service Account in the PSS Server Caller Verification Trustee list, unless the logged in user of the Web Portal machine is explicitly present in the Administrators Group of the PSS server. This occurs because PSS fails to identify the nested group membership.

This issue can be resolved by installing the HotFix BindView_PSS80000182023_HF109.exe.

Password Self Service Integration: Often Help desk administrators receive calls to perform operations like reset password of a user, and due to this, there arises a basic need to authenticate the user prior to performing the operations via bv-Admin Web Portal. bv-Admin Password Self Service (PSS) provides the required user verification mechanism which is based on quizzing. bv-Admin Web Portal now integrates with PSS to provide the user verification functionality.
Generic schema properties support in Web Portal Custom Forms.
Support for new Exchange 2003 features such as Query based distribution groups, cross-site move mailbox, etc introduced by Exchange 2003 Server.
Windows Server™ 2003 SP1 support.

Note: bv-Admin Web Portal is not Windows Server™ 2003 certified.
