Situation:
You notice that the GoBack history is cleared (no restore safepoints are available) after using a disk defragmentation utility, such as Norton Speed Disk.
Solution:
When you defragment a hard drive there is more disk writing activity than normal. As GoBack stores this extra information, it is possible to fill the entire GoBack history file (Gobackio.bin) with records of the defragmentation activity. This is especially true if the disk was severely fragmented before starting. When this happens, there will be no restore safepoints because the entire file has been used to store information about a single system activity (the defragmentation). Defragmenting the hard drive on a regular basis will reduce the chances of the history file being filled this way.
For more information, see the document Error: Logging suspended due to massive file activity.
NOTE: GoBack should be disabled before using Speed Disk under Windows 2000 and Windows NT.
