How to use Ghost Explorer to open an image file that is stored on multiple CD discs
Situation:
You saved an image file directly to one or more CD-R or CD-RW discs. You want to open the image file in Ghost Explorer. Each disc has multiple files and you do not know which file to open.
Solution:
Before Ghost Explorer can display the entire image, it must read both the first file and the last file on the CD-ROM discs. If you choose the wrong file, Ghost Explorer will not display any of the image file, or it will display only part of the image file.
To open a Ghost image on CD-ROM discs:
- Open Ghost Explorer.
- Insert the first CD-ROM disc. This is the first CD-ROM you used when creating the image file.
- Click File, then Open.
- Select the CD-ROM drive. Ghost Explorer displays a list of files, such as CDR00001.gho, CDR00002.gho, CDR00003.gho and so on.
- Double-click the first Ghost file in the list. Ghost displays the message "Insert the last segment of the image file."
- Remove the first CD-ROM.
- Insert the last CD-ROM. This is the last CD-ROM you used when creating the image file.
- Press the F5 key. This refreshes the display to show the files on the last CD-ROM.
- Double-click the last Ghost file in the list.
Ghost now displays all the files and folders in the image set. When you select any particular file or folder, Ghost may prompt you to insert the CD-ROM that contains that file or folder.
