Error: "Image file not created with Norton Ghost" when restoring or checking an image file

Situation:
When you restore an image file from a CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD drive, you see the message "Image file not created with Norton Ghost". You also see the message when you run a Ghost Integrity Check to verify the integrity of the image file.

You know that the image file was created with Norton Ghost 2003.

Solution:
This problem happens when Norton Ghost 2003 cannot detect a drive letter for the CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD drive. To resolve the problem, configure Ghost to assign a drive letter to the device. Note that this drive letter is used only by Ghost.

To assign a drive letter:

  1. Open Norton Ghost 2003.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Choose "External storage driver settings."
  4. Check "Assign drive letters."

With this option checked, Norton Ghost 2003 assigns a drive letter as necessary to external storage devices such as a CD-R or DVD drive.
