Modem fails to train or negotiate when sending to certain standalone fax machines


Situation:
You cannot connect to some standalone fax machines, but you can send normally to others.

Solution:
Please test after completing each section to see if the problem is resolved. If the problem persists, continue to the next section for another resolution.

There may be an incompatibility between this modem and the standalone machines in question. There may be no solution.

Change the CSID to a numeric value

  1. In the WinFax PRO or TalkWorks PRO Program Setup, double-click User.
  2. On the General tab, change the Station Identifier (CSID) to a numeric value.
  3. Click OK, and click Close.

Reconfigure the modem in WinFax PRO/TalkWorks PRO
  1. In the WinFax PRO or TalkWorks PRO Program Setup, double-click Modems and Communications Devices icon. The Modems and Communications Devices Properties dialog appears.
  2. Select the modem you want to reconfigure.
  3. Press Shift and click Properties. The following message appears: "Your modem has not been configured to work with WinFax, do you want to run the WinFax modem configuration wizard now?"
  4. Click Yes, and then click Next. The modem will be queried.
  5. Once the results are complete, click Next
  6. Click Finish.

Suggestions and hints
You can change these settings in WinFax PRO Program Setup under Modems and Communications Devices or Receive options.
