Removing temporary files
Before you begin: Temporary files and folders are created both when you install programs and during normal Windows operation. Though they are temporary, sometimes they are not deleted. These remaining items can cause problems.
The following steps show you how to delete these files and folders. In most cases, the removal of these items is safe because they are no longer needed. However, if you are not sure, do not delete the files and folders when you are instructed. Instead, move them to a different folder or to external media, such as a CD.
If your computer runs Windows XP/2000 and more than one person logs on to the computer, repeat this procedure for each user.
To delete temporary files and folders
- Exit all programs.
