How to remove WinFax PRO or TalkWorks PRO
Situation:
You would like to remove WinFax PRO or TalkWorks PRO from the computer.
Solution:
To perform a basic uninstallation of WinFax PRO or TalkWorks PRO, use the Add/Remove Programs option in Windows.
To back up existing data
- Close all open applications, and stop the WinFax PRO or TalkWorks PRO service if you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000.
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Locate the \Data directory on the hard drive. For a standard installation, the location is:
C:\Program Files\Symantec\WinFax (for WinFax PRO 9.0x/10.x)
C:\Program Files\Symantec\TalkWorks (for TalkWorks PRO 2.0x/3.0x)
- Copy the \Data folder to a different location on the hard drive if you plan on reinstalling (for example, C:\MYBACKUP). Make sure that the location is not within the Symantec folder.
- Repeat for the \Cover folder (if you have any custom cover pages).

To use the Add/Remove Programs option
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Select WinFax PRO (or TalkWorks PRO), and then click Add/Remove. The program is uninstalled from the computer. During the uninstallation, click Yes when asked if you want to delete all data. (You backed up the data in the previous step.)
- Restart the system.
