WinFax PRO logs do not appear in Outlook after installing WinFax PRO 10
Situation:
After upgrading to, or installing WinFax PRO 10, you are unable to see any WinFax PRO logs or the WinFax PRO service in Outlook.
Solution:
To resolve this problem, you will need to edit the Mapisvc.inf file, as follows:
- Close all open applications, and stop the WinFax PRO service if you are running Windows NT.
- Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders. The Find dialog box appears.
- From the Look In drop-down list, select the drive on which you installed WinFax PRO/TalkWorks PRO.
- Check Include subfolders (if not already checked).
- In the Named field, type mapisvc.inf and click Find Now. Windows displays all files matching the search criteria.
- Double-click the resulting file. The file opens in Notepad.
- Under the [SERVICES] section add the following line:
WINFAX=WinFax PRO
- Add a [WINFAX] section to the Mapisvc.inf file:
[WINFAX]
PR_DISPLAY_NAME=WinFax PRO
PR_SERVICE_DLL_NAME=DCCWFP.DLL
PR_SERVICE_ENTRY_NAME=ServiceEntry
Providers=DCCMSP
PR_SERVICE_SUPPORT_FILES=DCCMSP.DLL
PR_RESOURCE_FLAGS=SERVICE_SINGLE_COPY|SERVICE_NO_PRIMARY_IDENTITY
WIZARD_ENTRY_NAME=WizardEntry
- Add a [DCCMSP] section to the Mapisvc.inf file:
[DCCMSP]
PR_PROVIDER_DLL_NAME=DCCMSP.DLL
PR_RESOURCE_TYPE=MAPI_STORE_PROVIDER
PR_DISPLAY_NAME=WinFax Fax Logs
PR_PROVIDER_DISPLAY=WinFax Fax Logs
PR_MDB_PROVIDER=90CA020000000000C000000000000046
PR_RESOURCE_FLAGS=STATUS_NO_DEFAULT_STORE
- Close Notepad, and save the changes to the Mapisvc.inf file.
- In the Find window, right-click the Mapisvc.inf file, and click Install. The file will be installed.
NOTE: If you are running Windows 2000, do not install this file, as you will receive an "Install Failed error."
- Close all open programs, shut down, and restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
