Information about the WinFax PRO Software Developers Kit

Situation:
You want more information about the WinFax PRO Software Development Kit (SDK).

Solution:
The SDK for WinFax PRO 9.x and 10.x includes the Application SDK, the Phonebook Development Kit (PDK) and the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL.)

Note: Symantec does not provide support for the WinFax SDK (Software Development Kit).

The most commonly used part of the SDK is the Application SDK. This contains features for software developers. These features include sending faxes, creating fax attachments, using the send and receive logs from other applications, converting fax images to other graphic formats or using a TWAIN compliant scanner, using the TalkWorks PRO scripting language, and more.

The Application SDK enables developers who create applications in Visual Basic, C++, FoxPro, Delphi and other 32 bit languages to interface those applications with WinFax PRO 9.0/10.0 and TalkWorks PRO 2.0/3.0.

The PDK is used to link an external phonebook from a commercial or custom application to WinFax PRO 9.0.

The HAL is used by developers to add an available device (under Modems and Other Fax Devices) dialog box in WinFax PRO/TalkWorks PRO. Examples of this may include an Internet fax service or a multifunction hardware device.

To obtain the SDK, PDK, or HAL
The Application SDK Documentation, sample code, Phonebook Development Kit (PDK) and Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) are now included on all WinFax PRO 9.0, WinFax PRO 10, TalkWorks PRO 2.0 and TalkWorks PRO 3.0 CD ROMS in the SDK directory.

Sample code
Phonebook Development Kit (PDK) and Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) documentation and sample code are available only on the CD ROM releases of WinFax PRO 9.0/10.0 and TalkWorks PRO 2.0/3.0.

Trial versions
Trial versions or on-line purchases do not include any SDK, PDK or HAL documentation. If you are using a Trial version or you purchased a copy on-line, you can download the Application SDK using the preceding Web page.
