Enabling debugging for Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition on NetWare 5 and 6

Question/Issue:
This document tells how to enable debugging to troubleshoot problems with Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition on a Novell NetWare server.

Symptoms:
Enabling debugging for Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition on NetWare 5 and 6 This document tells how to enable debugging to troubleshoot problems with Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition on a Novell NetWare server.

Solution:
You can enable basic debugging to troubleshoot general problems with Symantec AntiVirus, or you can capture only the debugging information that is specific to communication.

To enable basic debugging

  1. On the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition screen at the NetWare Console, press F6.
  2. Type the password for the Admin menu, and then press Enter.
  3. Select the Debug menu.
  4. Change Debug, Logging, and Verbose to ON.

To enable debugging for communication problems
  1. At the NetWare Console, type the following command:

    VPREGEDT

  2. Press Enter.
  3. Press O(pen)
  4. Press Enter.
  5. Select VirusProtect6 and then press Enter.
  6. Press E(dit)
  7. Select ProductControl, and then press Enter.
  8. Press E(dit)
  9. In the right pane, select Debug, and then press Enter.
  10. Change the data for Debug to the following:

    CA L


Symantec AntiVirus creates the SYS:SAV\Vpdebug.log file and shows the debugging information in a separate console window. To switch to the debugging window, press Alt+Esc.
