Manually uninstalling LiveUpdate Administration Utility

Situation:This document describes how to manually uninstall LiveUpdate Administration Utility.

Solution:The removal of LiveUpdate Administration Utility manually comprises the following three basic steps:
  • Removing LiveUpdate Administration Utility from the registry
  • Removing LiveUpdate Administration Utility from the Start menu
  • Removing LiveUpdate Administration Utility from the hard disk


WARNING: We strongly recommend that you back up the system registry before you make any changes to it. Incorrect changes to the registry could result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. Modify only the specified keys . See the document How to back up the Windows registry before proceeding.

To remove LiveUpdate Administration Utility from the registry
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run.
  2. Type regedit
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the left pane of the Registry Editor, expand the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths

  5. Delete the following key:

    LUAdmin.Exe

  6. In the left pane, expand the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

  7. Delete the following key:

    LUAdmin

  8. In the left pane, expand the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec

  9. Delete the following key:

    LiveUpdate Admin

  10. In the left pane, go to the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Symantec\InstalledApps

  11. In the right pane, delete the following value:

    LiveUpdateAdmin


To remove LiveUpdate Administration Utility from the Start menu
  1. On the Windows taskbar, right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  2. Expand Programs.
  3. Delete the LiveUpdate Administration Utility shortcut.

To remove Symantec Live Update Administration Utility from the hard disk
  1. Start Windows Explorer.
  2. In the Program Files folder, delete the LiveUpdate Administration folder.
