Error 0x8007043c when trying to start the Symantec Endpoint Protection user interface in safe mode

Situation:Why is error 0x8007043c being produced when trying to start the SEP (Symantec Endpoint Protection) user interface in safe mode?

Solution:Click "No" instead.

The user interface will open and the software can be configured and used in a limited fashion. There will be an alert that says "File system Auto-Protect is malfunctioning." However, you can still run manual scans.
