Question/Issue:
You are installing Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition on a computer on which a retail version of Norton AntiVirus was previously installed. The Symantec AntiVirus installation fails with messages that indicate that a retail or consumer version is still installed. Also, you cannot successfully remove a retail program using Add/Remove Programs.
Solution:

Because Symantec programs often share components, it is necessary to remove Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition before removing the consumer program. To do this, start with the section "Part 1: Removing enterprise programs," and follow the instructions from there.
