Question/Issue:
List of public Instant Messaging servers for IM Manager DNS redirection setup.
Symptoms:
One of the suggested ways of implementing Symantec IM Manager is to utilize DNS Redirection. This setup is detailed in the DNS and Networking Guide in IM Manager 7.5 & 8.0, and in the IM Manager Implementation Guide in versions 8.1 and beyond. When the public IM networks update software or networks, they sometimes introduce new hostnames or protocol information. This new information may not be contained within the documentation that shipped with the release of IM Manager. Please reference this KB for up to date information regarding public IM server information.
Solution:
| IM Client | Domain Names | IP Address |
| AOL Instant Messenger |

| Yahoo Messenger |
scs.msg.yahoo.com scsa.msg.yahoo.com scsb.msg.yahoo.com scsc.msg.yahoo.com scsd.msg.yahoo.com scse.msg.yahoo.com scsf.msg.yahoo.com scsg.msg.yahoo.com scsh.msg.yahoo.com |

Further, Google Talk, MSN, and AOL require SSL authentication to specific servers. This information is detailed in the KB: IM Clients require SSL Authentication to specified domains.
NOTE: AIM 6.X and higher requires DNS entry for the hostname provisioned with AOL. The DNS entry should point to the Primary IP address of the IM Manager server.
