Situation:
You need to know how to use the online Symantec Security Check.

Solution:
Symantec Security Check is a free service that is designed to help you understand your computer's exposure to online security intrusions and virus threats.

To use the online Symantec Security Check:

1. Go to the following Web address:

2. A Web page that looks like the following appears:
   
   
   
   In most cases, if you wait a moment or two (a slow connection it could take up to a minute) a second window opens. Here is a screen shot of part of the second window:

   Note: If the second window does not open automatically, click the "Go" button in the first window.

3. Click Start to begin either a Security Scan or Virus Scan. If you see a dialog box similar to the following, click Yes.
   
   
   
   You may have to do this several times.
   
4. Allow the scan to run. This could take 20 minutes or longer, depending on the speed of your computer and connection. Follow any prompts that are displayed.
